Bailiffgate Museum

Cragside House - National Trust Site
Cragside near Rothbury in Northumberland, England was the first house in the world to be lit using electricity. Built into a rocky crag above a vast forest garden which contains a network of streams and lakes which allow for the provision of hydro-electric power for the House. Home to Lord Armstrong it has been owned by the National Trust since the late 1970s.
Lindisfarne or Holy Island
An unspoiled, historic island located off the North East corner of Northumberland, England near Berwick-upon-Tweed. It has a population of around 150 people but attracts over half a million visitors a year from all over the world.
Holy Island Crossing times
Access to the island is gained by a tidal causeway which is submerged by the Sea twice a day. To find out when it is safe to cross Northumberland COunty Council provide the official tide timetables. Please do not try to access the island at any other time as the causeway becomes submerged rapidly and is very dangerous.
Alnwick Castle - Official Site

The Alnwick Garden
The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland is one of the most amazing contemporary gardens to be constructed in the last 100 years anywhere in the world. It was the Duchess of Northumberland's vision to create a beautiful public space for education, comtemplation, fun and inspiration. Opened in 2002 by Prince Charles it features water displays, unique gardens and one of the largest treehouses in the world!

Bamburgh Castle - Official Site
One of the finest castles in the world, Bamburgh Castle sits perched on a basalt outcrop on the coast at Bamburgh, Northumberland. It provides stunning views of the Farne Islands, Holy Island and the Cheviot hills. It has been extensively restored, first in the 1750's and more recently by Lord Armstrong at the end of the 19th century. The castle continues to be the home of the Armstrong family.
